Welcome to My “Wake UP Before the Sun” Challenge!
Congratulations, I’m so glad you’re here! You’ve taken the first step towards changing your life for the better and making this time in quarantine an opportunity to create new healthy habits and be the best YOU possible.
I decided to create this challenge because I noticed that so many of my private clients, friends and colleagues were feeling “off” their routines and experiencing heightened levels of fear, anxiety and uncertainty during this challenging quarantine time.
What I discovered while navigating this difficult time myself is that I didn’t have control over being quarantined, but the one thing I DID have control over was HOW I decided to live my life during quarantine.
I noticed so many people were staying up late at night, eating unhealthy foods and watching mindless television. They would then wake up later than usual, feeling groggy, sluggish and just off their game. Their productivity, creativity and mood were all down and they felt depressed.
I started thinking… what could I do to turn this around for people?
As you’ve heard me say, time and time again,
SMALL CHANGES = MIRACULOUS RESULTS
I decided that if I could just make one small change, the decision to WAKE UP EARLY, it would put my entire day on a more positive, productive and joyful track!
So made the commitment to “Wake UP Before the Sun” and go on a Power-walk in nature. The results were IMMEDIATE!
I felt AMAZING and my productivity, creativity and mood soared and flourished!!!
(Even if you are in quarantine and can not leave the house, this challenge will work for you)
I decided to invite all of YOU to join me in my “Wake UP Before the Sun” Challenge
I’m IN! So what do I have to do, Dr Elizabeth?
Well, It’s Simple, Easy & Effective. All you need to do are these steps.
1. Eat an early light dinner (best if it’s before 6pm)
2. Start winding down around 8-8:30pm- it’s important to turn off your computer at this time
3. Get to bed before 10pm
4. Set your alarm for before the sun rises (I wake up at 5:15am)
Don’t sweat it if you’re a night owl… trust me, I used to be the biggest night owl in the world. Anyone can shift their schedule in order to wake up earlier.
Some Dr. Elizabeth Tips to Help you Crush this Challenge:
If you’re having a difficult time going to bed earlier and waking up earlier, try shifting your bedtime and waking time by 30 minutes/day. In other words, if you’re now going to bed at midnight and waking up at 8am, go to sleep 30 minutes earlier, 11:30pm and set your alarm for 30 minutes earlier, 7:30am
Each day, back it up by 30 minutes and before you know it, you’ll be going to bed before 9:30-10pm and waking up at 5:30am.
Now it’s time to add in some great exercise!
Waking up earlier is a great start to creating your new quarantine schedule. The next step is to add in some good exercise.
Here are some great exercise options:
(If you are allowed to leave your home)
Walking around the block
Climbing the stairs
And, here are some great exercise options
(If you can’t leave your home)
Dancing in the house
Dumbbells if you have them. If you don’t, you can use your own body weight
And, remember…you can ALWAYS turn on some great music and DANCE!
Finally, it’s time to add some healthy food choices into our diet. Boosting our immune system is always a good idea. And now, it is even more crucial.
Think GREEN! If possible, add more green juices, superfood smoothies and ginger tea to your diet. And, of course, eat as many greens as possible, as well as a few healthy nourishing fruits.
Remember to eat your last meal by 6-6:30pm so your food has time to digest.
TIME TO DO THIS!
Just these small shifts will make an incredible difference in your life during this challenging quarantine time.
